Technical Specifications: Decoding the Premium Formats at Island 16

Choosing the right screen format can drastically alter your viewing experience. Island 16 offers four distinct auditorium types, each engineered to meet specific technical standards established by organizations like the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).

Showcase XPlus Laser Premium Large Format (PLF)

The crown jewel of Island 16 is the Showcase XPlus auditorium. This proprietary premium large format utilizes a giant, wall-to-wall screen paired with advanced dual-laser projection.

• Visual Performance: The 4K laser system delivers superior brightness, a wider color gamut (exceeding the DCI-P3 color space), and highly contrast-rich imagery, completely eliminating the dimness often associated with older xenon-bulb projectors.
• Audio Engineering: XPlus is powered by a Dolby Atmos multidimensional sound array. Unlike traditional channel-based audio, Dolby Atmos treats individual sounds as "objects" that audio engineers can precisely position and move anywhere in three-dimensional space, including overhead, via a vast matrix of discrete ceiling and wall speakers.

IMAX with Laser

For select blockbusters filmed with high-aspect-ratio cameras, the IMAX with Laser auditorium at Island 16 offers unmatched scale.

• Aspect Ratio: Features a expanded aspect ratio (typically 1.90:1), providing up to 26% more picture on screen compared to standard auditoriums.
• Laser Engine: Employs a specialized 4K laser projection engine that produces incredibly sharp details and deep, realistic ink-blacks.
• Acoustics: Utilizes a custom-calibrated, 12-channel audio system with sub-bass capabilities that vibrate the audience, ensuring total acoustic immersion.

MX4D Motion EFX Theatre

For viewers seeking an interactive, multi-sensory experience, the MX4D auditorium translates on-screen action into physical sensations.

• Motion Seats: Patented pneumatic seats tilt, roll, pitch, and heave in perfect synchronization with the camera movements and action sequences.
• Environmental Effects: The theater environment is equipped to produce localized effects, including water sprays, wind gusts, fog, strobes, neck ticklers, and scents.

Standard Digital Cinemas

The remaining standard auditoriums at Island 16 still deliver high-quality presentation, utilizing fully digital 4K Christie or Barco projectors and 7.1 surround sound configurations. Every auditorium is equipped with plush, fully reclining power seats, ensuring a premium baseline comfort level regardless of the ticket tier selected.
