Webmay 7, 2006 · here's a picture of my stevens 76a (pre stevens 87a) and what it can do in the squirrel woods. Websavage stevens model 87 semi automatic rifle. Both stevens and springfield, at the time, where subsidiaries of the savage arms co. (but may also be applicable to other models) the easiest is by the alpha code contained in the inspectors mark. I have several of these rifles, all made prior to '48 and 3 or 4 prewar.
The alpha code should be preceded by one or two.
